How to host a virtual listening party

A listening party is just friends hearing the same music at the same time. Here is a simple way to do it without anyone hosting a stream.

Pick a stage and a time

Choose a stage that suits the mood and agree a time. Share the stage link in your group chat.

Everyone tunes in

At the agreed time, everyone opens the link and presses Tune in live. The stage clock is the same for everyone, so you all start on the same song, give or take a few seconds.

Make a poster

Use the poster maker on the Line-up page to pick the sets for your party, give it a name, and send the image round beforehand.

Chat along

Keep the chat going in your usual messaging app. Lofi is instrumental and calm, so it sits nicely under a conversation.

If you stream it

If you play the music on a livestream, add the credit line to your stream description. The music is CC BY 4.0, so that is all you need.

Quick answers

Do we all need to press play at once?

No. Tune in live works out where the stage is right now, so people can join late and still be in step.

Will we be perfectly in sync?

Within a few seconds. It depends on how quickly each browser loads the song.
